Meet Lindsey
(she/they)
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional specializing in complex trauma and the neurodivergent experience. I am also a late-identified multiply neurodivergent, queer person. My most meaningful work has been with clients who identify as Deeply Feeling/HSP, C-PTSD, Autistic, and/or ADHD—basically, fellow “black sheep.” I began this little practice to offer affirming, intentional, and accessible services to our shared community.
My experience as a therapist has encompassed work with the queer, trans, and neurodivergent community, people of all ages with a history of complex or relational trauma, PTSD, and those experiencing burnout, depression, grief, anxiety, “never enough-ness,” and relationship concerns. As a white therapist, I am committed to actively learning from those who hold marginalized identities, applying an intersectional lens, and practicing from a place of cultural humility, anti-racism, and transformative justice.
My style can be described as open, authentic, warm, non-judgmental, casual, curious, engaged, and compassionate. I wholeheartedly believe that my clients are the experts in their experiences and prioritize the client’s autonomy within sessions. All of your “parts” are welcome in the therapeutic space, and I will work with you to build as much of a sense of safety there as possible.
I believe in offering an integrative and holistic approach to therapy which considers each person’s unique needs. I use techniques based in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Relational, Person-Centered, and Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) therapy. Because emotions and trauma are stored in the body, I integrate somatic or embodiment practices. I am trained in Brainspotting, a powerful trauma-processing modality that accesses the body’s innate ability to heal. Most importantly, though, I will work with you to find what works for you.
I have learned that a trusted therapeutic relationship can greatly enhance the healing process, and is often necessary for healing. One of my teachers, Mariya Javed-Payne, writes “Witnessing another is one of the most profound acts of kindness and healing possible. Somatic psychotherapy is the act of guiding a person stuck in necessary, yet sometimes unhelpful survival states into patterns of engagement and safety.” I would be honored to hold space for you to tell and reclaim your story, expand your self-awareness, identify and access community supports, practice unmasking, and unearth your inherent strengths and most authentic, integrated self.
I work with Virginia residents via a convenient, HIPAA-secure telehealth platform (aka Zoom). For those in Richmond, I also offer a limited number of in-person appointments at my private Lakeside office, or the nearby park perfect for nature-based “walk and talk” sessions.
I am committed to learning & growing personally & professionally.
